But it's haaaaard!

Blogging. While I am relatively new in Blogland, I already know how hard it can be! Hence why I didn't actually partake in theACTUAL blog everyday challenge, I chose specific ones to do (tehe).

Let's go: why blogging is hard.

1) How interested are people ACTUALLY in your life? I do the same things most days, come to work, do some work, go on the internet and go home. I could always try and pretend my life if super interesting, but that would be even more work.

2) You're trying to appeal to a wide range of audiences amongst all the blogs out in blogland. If you can make a successful one, kudos to you. You have cracked the code on how to interest people in your life! (No seriously, good job. You should be proud!)

3) I'm a lazy ass betch. I like writing and I like reading blogs, but sometimes (re: most of the time) I want to sit on my couch and watch netflix. But I know that I want to be able to look back on these posts in the future and see what I was up to so you know, I get over the laziness (sometimes).

4) Finding something to write about is the hardest part. You want something people will care about, but also something you care about, or know about. There is no point in making a post that you don't even like! I mean I could write an entire post about why I love subway but I don't think too many people would be interested in that...

On a final note, to everyone that actually did post everday in july, you are the BOMB. That's some amazing shit right thur. Keep up the good work.

It was nice tagging along for some of the ride!

Over and out.

I love me first

Hay girl hayyy. I hope everyone's tuesday is going well! Mine started off kinda rough because of a migraine (my body is not adapting well to this bizarre heat wave we are having) but ended with sushi which makes everything ok!

Today's prompt for Blog Everyday in July is 5 things you love about yourself! I am so glad to see this as a topic because so often we see what we love in others we forget to reflect on how amazing and special we are! I think it's so important to build up your self confidence by filling yourself with self-love, even though it's not the easiest thing. Let's begin!

1) My sense of humour

I am often told that I'm really witty and clever and I love to make people laugh. Sometimes you just know when a moment has a perfect joke and I am the person to say it. Some people sarcasm as a negative thing but I prefer to use it to my advantage to make people laugh and to break the ice if anyone is awkward.

2) Sense of style (90% of the time)

Ok so I don't ALWAYS dress to impress, but I try to when I go out. I used to dress a certain way when /i started getting attention from guys, but now I am firm believer that pants are the devil and dresses are the way to go. I couldn't even count on hand how many dresses I own, but I can tell you I own 3 pairs of jeans. Wearing dresses gives me more confidence, which means I feel better about myself and I know that I can rock what I want.

3) My boobs

Yep being conceited as hell. But I do love my boobs! They are the perfect size for me, as much as they can be an annoyance when trying on tops and dresses, it always works out. If you got it, flaunt am I right?

4) My friend skills

Meaning, that I am good friend. If you are good to me, I will be good to you, no problem. I always do whatever I can for my friends (and family!) because they are so important to me. I have very few people I can trust and that trust me and I work as hard as I can to keep it! I definitely try not to pass judgment on them and listen to them actively.

5) My thirst for knowledge

Whether it be in school or in everyday life, I am always open and looking to learn something new. New cultures, new discoveries, different outlooks and perspectives on things. I try not to cram myself in a box of what I think, instead I like to see what other people see. This has become a bigger part of my life since traveling a bit and it's definitely for the best.

So what do you like about yourself? I could tell you you're all amazing, but I hope you know that already :)

Picture this

Oh hello there. Monday is here again, and usually I don't mind them (tuesdays are the worst imo), today was spectacularly awful. Absolutely NOTHING was working for me at work and it made the day drag on.

BUT YOU KNOW, such is life.

Today's Blog Everyday in July prompt is:  3 Pictures - Share your favorite pictures. 1 of anything, 1 you took, and 1 selfie. So let's get this party thing started!

1. Picture of anything

When we went to Port Aventura, a theme park in Barcelona you could get a yard of beer. A YARD for three euros. We decided it would be best to get buzzed before going on all the scary rides so we wouldn't be so frightened but not drunk enough that we would throw up. You would be surprised at how well this logic worked out.

2. Picture I took

This is the Lennon wall in Prague. People come every day and paint new things on it. You can paint whatever you want! Song lyrics, sayings, drawings ANYTHING. It was a really cool and different thing to see, and some of the quotes people left were really insightful and meaningful for me at the time, and still are. Prague is a beautiful city and you should visit it if you ever have the chance!

3. A selfie

Taken the day after I got home from France. It was definitely bittersweet, but now it's mostly just bitter because I see all these other people traveling in Europe and it's making me really jealous. I'll get back over there at some point.

Well thanks for stopping by on this Monday! Only four more sleeps until Friday!

Later taters.

True life: I have an iPhone problem

I always wish I could be one of those people who didn't need their phone, could be out of contact in that way, but I really, really can't. I use my phone as my alarm, I use it for music, I use it for recipes. I could never live without this thing.

I've downloaded the scattered app since having a phone so I know which ones I love and which ones were just taking up space. So here are my top five:

1. Twitter

This app could seriously keep me entertained for HOURS. There are always tweets I missed and new people to follow. And it's just a hilariously good time.

2. Instagram

Anyone who knows me will tell you I am a queen when it comes to Instagram. None of my outings go un-instagrammed. Judge that in whatever way you wish.

3. Whatsapp

I need this one purely to keep in contact with my boyfriend who is in France and my other friends scattered around the globe. It's really cost effective and super quick, I really recommend it if you have anyone abroad that you want to talk to.

4. Songza

This is THE best. They have playlists for every kind of activity you could be doing, or any kind of mood you are in. I have discovered so many new songs and artists from this app it's amazing.

5. Candy Crush

Yeah I'm still not over this. Listen I need something to do while I'm waiting in line or at the doctors office. You know you have it somewhere there too.

So there you have it. What I do on my phone, I you're life has been forever changed!

Allieology

And since it is friday, we need to back that azz up!

Shout out to Shania, who I wish I could have seen but will have live vicariously through other people's pictures.

Over and out! Have an awesome weekend!

Picnics and lighthouses

I couldn't be happier about the fact that it's wednesday. Only two more sleeps until friday, which makes the weekend sound closer than it actually is. Whoops. So can I just sleep threw all of tomorrow?

Anywho, this past sunday, myself and three of my besties went to this cute little town about an hour away from where I live to have a picnic at a lighthouse.

how cute are we??

The best part being that they make the food for you! You just put in what kind of sandwich you want, what kind of desert you want and you're on your way! They give you a blanket then you find a spot and they bring it to you! They even give you blankets. It's the CUTEST thing.

This the view you get while enjoying your delicious meal:

We saw whales and puffins and it was just amazing. After binging on the food, we laid down to work on our tan Then finally head out.

If there is anything remotely similar to this near you I would 100% recommend it.

Now I want to know, do you have any must haves for a picnic? For me it's never complete without lemonade, ever.

Would you have a picnic with me please??

My Day (in GIFS)

I am absolutely IN LOVE with the prompt for today. I love nothing more than a good gif, and I love the challenge of finding one that fits you scenario perfectly.

So this is my typical day:

Wake up from my alarm going off at 8am, shocked as if it doesn't happen 5 times a week..

Get my ass out of bed into the shower then get maself beautimous

Stroll into the office just in time (always in a great mood in the morning)

do some work, take a facebook break, repeat. then, it's LUNCH TIME

Honey boo boo knows

then I go back to work and wait until the clock hits 5 and i am OUTTA THERE

and come home just so I can watch youtube videos and TLC

Anddddd I look like that from my living room to my bed until I asleep.

I hope I have opening your eyes to the exciting life I lead..

Thanks for stopping by!

These are a few of my favourite things!

Hello hello! Today I will share with you 5 of my favourite things! I'll be honest, picking just five is really hardbecause I like a lot of things. But alas, I have narrowed them down (I think..)

1. Lipstick

I have ZERO ability to refrain from buying a new lipstick when I go to a drugstore or higher end store. I will even buy the same shade but from different brands which evidently means it's a different colour (it doesn't). I have everything from Lancome to Mac to Urban Decay to Covergirl. You name it, I probably have a lipstick by that brand. But it's justified because I wear it every day right??

2. Diet Pepsi

My everything. Seriously, ask anyone who knows me and they will all tell you my favourite drink is a nice cold can of DP. When I was in France they only had coke, the struggle was very real.

3. Wheat Beers

I only started liking beer a couple of years ago, but now I would consider myself a big fan of the stuff. However, I can't manage a pint of Guinness, it needs to be wheat beer or bust really. My faves are def Rickards White, Shocktop and one from a local brewery here call Wexford Wheat.

4. Dresses

This isn't surprising given my blog name, but I had to mention it anyway. It's basically the same part of my brain that is addicted to lipstick. Just try and stop me from buying 7 or 8 dresses on a shopping trip to Forever21 or H&M. JUST TRY. I don't care if I have over 100 (I do...), I always want more. Again, I wear them everyday so..it's ok right?

Someone should probably call Intervention. Is that still a show??

And finally,

5. Binge watching TV shows

And not only on Netflix, oh no. I will go out and buy seasons on DVD rather than stream it, and sit in front of my TV for days on end watching the whole thing. And I feel no remorse or guilt for doing so. If I skip a night out to watch One Tree Hill, then I am probably pretty damn happy about it.

Also, I have been singing the song from the Sound of Music all day. That'll probably keep going all night.

All about my city: St. John's

The prompt for today for Blog Everyday in July is your city. Since I love to boast about the city I'm from everyday, why not share it on the interwebs? Here we go!

I am from Newfoundland in Canada (the east coast of Canada), and the city I live in is St. John’s. It’s the capital of Newfoundland and there are approx. 150 000 people living here. Relatively small compared to other capital cities, but I love it all the same.

The city is the most easterly point in North America. It’s also the oldest English-founded city in North America.

(we also have lots of icebergs. you've seen the titanic right?)

Oh look, the oldest street in North America!

The weather here is awful from the months of January to mid-June. Legitimately we only have winter and then suddenly 25 degrees. Spring is not a thing in St. John’s.
St. John’s has some amazing views and hikes that make you enjoy living here when it’s not covered in fog or snow.

 Fog town:

Snow town:

St. John’s has a little street called George Street, which you may or may not have heard of. George Street has the most bars and pubs per square foot in North America. Which you know, means you are definitley in for a good time if you come by! With over 35 bars and pubs on two blocks you will find something you enjoy! And then you can enjoy some street meat at 3am.

St. John’s was also name one of the most colourful cities in the world and it’s due to a set of streets with brightly coloured houses we call JellyBean Row. They are such bright colours so that you could see them in the fog. I kid you not.

So there you have it. Well, that’s all I think you need to know about St. John’s anyway. The public transit may be awful, the weather might get you down a lot of the time but I dearly love this little city I call home. And should you ever find yourself in the neighbourhood, I would love to be your tour guide!

How to ruin your summer

Summer is supposed to be a time for play and fun right? So why am I doing this again?

Step 1:

Decide to apply to grad school. Research ALL the schools

Step 2:

Realize you need to write the GRE to get in.

Step 3:

Decide whatever you can do this! No sweat!

Step 4:

Get the book

and realize you don't understand any of this:

Step 5:

Cry and regret your decision

Ok ok, ruining my summer might be a bit of an exaggeration, but you catch my drift.

Happy Tuesday!

Finish the sentence

Well well well, monday. We meet again..

While I have most definitely not been posting every day in July, this theme seemed like too much fun to pass up. Plus I needed to get something posted because it's been a while you.

(Also, please excuse the little bits of blog everywhere as I'm currently getting my layout edited and YEAH. I'm really good at the internet).

Here we go! Sentence finishing:

When I open the fridge, I always hope I find...
Subway. infinite amounts of subway.

My favorite article of clothing is...
Any maxi dress i own. comfortable and acceptable at work and for play.

Last week I was really pissed when...
Whennn two of the houses I was supposed to go see were rented to someone else :( the saddest of times.

One thing nobody understands about me is...
Why I have so much difficulty sleeping. Or why my migraines make me want to kill someone. If they don't experience it, they just don't get it. Fair enough I guess.

One thing I don't understand is...
How people don't think them picking to spend all their time with their partner won't have a negative impact on your friendships. If you always tell me you're busy, I'm just not going to invite you anymore.

The world would be a better place if...
France and Newfoundland were the same place.

If I had a million dollars I'd...
Pay off debt, give some to charity and move to Europe. or move someone to Canada. whichever.

If I could change one thing about myself, it would be...
I have a really short temper at times. Need to get that on lock down.

Something that can always make me happy is...
French fries

Something I'll never blog about is...
not much I wouldn't blog about really

If I could go anywhere I would go...
Australia, Germany, Switzerland, just.. everywhere.

because...
there is so much more to see than just where I live!

If I were an animal I would be a....
sloth. They are basically my spirit animal anyway

A job I've always wanted is..
There isn't one job i've always wanted. it changes. Right now it's speech pathologist.

My idea of a perfect day is...
Sleeping till 11, getting lunch at my fave restaurant then lounging.

If I knew I'd die next week, this week I'd...
Eat everything. Quit my job and see as many places as I could.  Tell everyone every second of the day that I love them.

So that's all she wrote! Enjoy your monday!
